Katja Gehrmann, born in 1968, studied illustration in Mexico, Spain, and at the Hamburg School of Design. She has won numerous awards for her illustrations, including the Golden Apple at the Biennale in Bratislava and the Troisdorf Picture Book Scholarship. She lives with her family in Hamburg and is a member of Atelier Amaldi.
