Milo and the Mysterious Island
Milo, the cliff mouse, longs to see what lies beyond the horizon. When wise old Balthazar shares the legend of an island inhabited by striped mice, Milo and his cliff mice friends build a raft and—with their glittering magical stones to light their way—set sail in search of the mysterious land.
But when Milo and his friends arrive, they have to make a choice. Will Milo and his friends share their treasures or will they hide them away for themselves? It’s up to the reader to decide. This sequel offers the same alternate-ending format: halfway through the story, the book splits into two sections, each offering a different ending that allows children to actively participate in the decision-making process and to discover firsthand the consequences inherent in decisions.
This well-written story would be a great inspiration for group discussion about the spirit of exploration and encountering people who are different.
