Hans Christian Andersen was born in Odense, Denmark on April 2nd, 1805. Andersen became known worldwide for writing innovative and lasting fairy tales. His stories, including The Ugly Duckling and The Princess and the Pea, remain classics. On August 4th in 1875, he died in Copenhagen.
